HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04272010 - C.03RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to direct payment to the Habitat Conservancy in the amount of $332,471. These fees will be used to mitigate for impacts associated with the Vasco Road Safety Improvement Project. The Habitat Conservancy uses collected fees to acquire and restore wildlife and plant habitat. FISCAL IMPACT: The Vasco Road Safety Improvement Project will be funded by 100% American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds. BACKGROUND: The above reference project (Vasco Road Safety Improvements Project Phase 1) was previously approved by the Board of Supervisors and awarded on March 23, 2010. As part of the project, mitigation fees in the amount of $332,471.40 are to be paid to the Habitat Conservancy. The HCP requires that a rural road development fee and wetland fee be paid to the Conservancy for the total project footprint and wetland impacts as a mitigation measure for the project. The fees will be used to purchase land or easements and enhance habitat within core habitat areas under jurisdiction of the HCP. Safety Improvements Ph. I CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Payment of the mitigation is a condition of CEQA, NEPA, the HCP, and all regulatory permits issued for the project.
