Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of Health Services Department, to
execute a blanket Purchase Order with Synthes USA Sales, LLC, in an amount not to exceed
$400,000 to purchase hardware and biomaterials for orthopedic trauma and reconstruction
procedures at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Health Centers, for the period from April
1, 2010 through March 31, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
Synthes USA Sales, LLC is an orthopedic trauma vendor. Synthes USA Sales, LLC
provides all the necessary hardware and biomaterials needed to address and orthopedic
trauma and reconstruction procedure, including all various plates and screws used in “Open
Reduction Internal Fixation” procedures of all bones. Synthes USA Sales, LLC also
provides the Intramedullary Nails used in “IM Rodding” procedures of all long bones and
the synthetic and natural bone graft substitutes (biomaterials) that are used for orthopedic
trauma and reconstruction procedures. Synthes USA Sales, LLC was also selected as a
