HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04202010 - C.33RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order with Motorola, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $447,945 for six dispatch consoles and related back-up equipment for use by the City of Richmond as part of the East Bay Regional Communications System (EBRCS). FISCAL IMPACT: $447,945, 100% Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) grant; Budgeted. BACKGROUND: The request of $447,945 is for the purchase and installation of six dispatch consoles and related back-up equipment needed for the continued build-out of the East Bay regional Communication System. The six consoles being purchased are designated for the Richmond Police Department. The consoles are integral to providing the best voice communication performance with the existing infrastructure. Every component must be 100% compatible, the existing system cannot be expanded with another vendor's product. The PSIC grant funds the County's continued build-out of the East Bay Regional Communications System. Sustained build-out of the local communication system is a designated initiative and part of the Department of Homeland Security's mission to advance public safety interoperable communications nationwide.
