APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee,
on behalf of the Workforce Development Board (WDB), to execute a contract amendment
with the Contra Costa County Office of Education, effective March 1, 2010, to increase the
contract payment limit by $81,487 for a total contract payment limit not to exceed $525,621
for increased Workforce Investment Act In-School Youth Services with no change in the
contract term of October 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$525,621: No County Costs, 100% Federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth
Funding

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
bid process, Request for Interest 1100, for in-school and follow-up youth services as
mandated by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Services include vocational assessment,
job and apprenticeship placements, employment credentialing, career preparation services,
job retention support, mentoring and individualized program planning, and Foster Youth
Case Management Services. This amendment continues these year-round WIA formula
youth program services and allows the Office of Education to serve 38 additional youth.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Services to be offered through these contracts directly support two of the Children’s Report
Card community outcomes: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; and, 2)
“Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”.
