Subject:Authorize and Accept Sponsorship Funds from CaliforniaVolunteers
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
serve as a sponsor of the Rescue Group Summit to be held April 17, 2010. This Summit
invites all local animal rescue groups to come together to learn about the County Animal
Response Team (CART) and participate in the Disaster Animal Response Training that
will be available. The Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services, American Red Cross and
local County Emergency Response Team (CERT) leaders will also be participating in this
Summit to coordinate plans and contingencies to foster animals during times of disaster
or localized emergencies.
The sponsorship funds will be used to offset the cost of the April 17, 2010 Rescue Group
Summit, including the purchase of food and beverages for the event.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The negative impact of not accepting these funds will be less ability to foster animals
during times of local or national crises, thereby potentially adding to an already
overwhelming number of homeless, sick, and stray animals in our communities.
