ADOPT Resolution No. 2010/220 authorizing the deletion of certain positions and laying
off employees in the Probation Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Cost Savings of $15,090 in fiscal year 2009/10. Reduction of $1,690,848 in fiscal year
2010/11 budgeted expenditures.
BACKGROUND:
The Probation Department continues to encounter revenue shortfalls primarily from State
revenue sources. This includes programs funded by Vehicle License Fees (VLF) and Title
IV-E reimbursement revenue. The layoff and personnel reduction plan has been crafted to
limit the impact to direct services provided by the department.
This action will result in the layoff of one Lead Cook position and the abolishment of
several vacancies outlined in Attachment A. Tasks currently performed by the Lead Cook
will be absorbed by existing staff.
