THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Order on February 26, 1985 , by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Powers , Schroder , McPeak, Torlakson, Fanden
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
SUBJECT: Trauma Center for Emergency Care
Mark Finucane , Health Services Director , appeared before
the Board this date and reported that in response to the Board's
direction , he and his staff have met with a number of groups
interested in the development of a trauma system in Contra Costa
County, and that all had expressed the desire to cooperate in the
development of such a system .
Mr . Finucane advised that in response to the Board' s
request to insure that there were no lapses in the County' s health
care system , Medical Director William Walker and his staff at County
Hospital have initiated certain procedures , including entering into
an agreement with San Francisco General Hospital providing for the
immediate transfer of patients requiring specialized medical services .
Mr . Finucane stated that he has directed the Office of Emergency
Medical Services to solicit Requests for Proposals for a trauma
system for Contra Costa County. Mr . Finucane advised that he anti-
cipates having an interim report to the Board on March 12, 1985.
IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the comments of Mr . Finucane
are ACCEPTED .
