APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services
Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Meditech in the amount not to exceed
$155,000, for the annual maintenance of the healthcare information system, for the period
of April 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
Meditech is a mission critical application that is primarily used by a variety of Contra Costa
Regional Medical Center and Health Center staff in their daily clinical work. Contra Costa
Health Services has purchased the following Meditech modules to automate manual
processes, document patient care and enhance patient safety: Laboratory, Microbiology,
Pathology, Blood Bank, Order Entry, Patient Care inquiry, Pharmacy, emergency
Department, Patient Discharge Instructions, Data Repository, Materials Management, Magic
Office and Order Entry.

The annual maintenance allows Contra Costa Health Services
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
to upgrade Meditech to a later version of the system periodically or annually to ensure that
Contra Costa Health Services version has up to date features, fixes and
functionalities, which contribute to the overall health of the system. It also allows Contra
Costa Health Services Information Systems Dept staff to report and escalate system issues to
Meditech for analysis and resolution.
