Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of Health Services Department, to
execute a blanket Purchase Order with Boston Scientific in an amount not to exceed
$300,000, to purchase Urology, Pelvic Floor Reconstruction and G.I. Endoscopy supplies
and implants, for the period from October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I
BACKGROUND:
Surgery purchases Boston Scientific supplies and implants for use in Urology and
Gastroenterology services to treat various diseases and provide accurate histological
diagnosis and pelvic floor reconstruction. Gastroenterology uses Boston Scientific products
to treat a variety of digestive diseases. The products help perform biopsies, retrieve
gallstones and stop internal bleeding due to cancer and ulcers. Urology uses Boston
Scientific products to diagnose urinary stones, Stress Urinary Incontinence, and a host of
other diseases. Boston Scientific has developed groups of products designed to treat each of
these conditions and others. Boston Scientific offers minimally invasive treatment
