APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services
Department, to execute a Purchase Order with Meditech in an amount not to exceed
$375,000, for acquisition of the Meditech Patient Care and Patient Safety module for the
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa Regional Medical Center uses the Meditech Information System as the
core hospital information system, which includes software to support functions as
laboratory, pharmacy, order management, materials management and reporting.
The Contra Costa Regional Medical Center now needs to implement the software that will
allow nursing staff to electronically document the patient’s care and verify medications at
the patient’s bedside prior to being administered, thereby increasing patient safety. In
addition, having this capability will move the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center
