FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund. The increase in payment is to be funded by Engineering Services (developer fees), Road, Flood Control, and Airport funds. BACKGROUND: Under the existing on-call consulting services agreement payment limits, MGE Engineering is providing structural design services and construction support for Phase 1 and bridge design services for Phase 2 of the Vasco Road Safety Improvement Project. $38,000 has been budgeted for the Phase 1 work and $98,000 has been budgeted for the Phase 2 work. ATTESTED: March 23, 2010 David J. Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: KATHERINE SINCLAIR, Deputy cc: C. 79 To:Board of Supervisors From:Julia R. Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:March 23, 2010 Contra Costa County Subject:APPROVE and AUTHORIZE amendment No. 1 to an existing On-Call Consulting Agreement with MGE Engineering, Inc. (Various Project Funds) BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) MGE Engineering has also been selected to provide design services for the Upper Sand Creek Basin Project. This work is estimated to be $120,000. The original agreement with MGE Engineering has insufficient funds to support both the Upper Sand Creek Basin project and the Vasco Safety Improvement work previously discussed. The existing on-call consulting services agreement with MGE Engineering, Incorporated, was executed in November of 2009. This amendment increases the payment limit of the existing agreement in order to provide funds for these services and other future projects. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Negative action will result in the Public Works Department having reduced availability of structural engineering professional services, which may delay project completions and put federal funding in jeopardy.
