HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03232010 - C.78RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract with Managed Health Network in an amount not to exceed $163,584 to provide Employee Assistance Program services to Sheriff-Coroner employees for the period October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: $163,584; 100% General Fund. $54,528 annually for a 3 year period. Budgeted in fiscal year 2009/10. BACKGROUND: The General Services Department conducted a public solicitation for the Office of the Sheriff for Employee Assistance Program services (Bid # 0908-004). Managed Health Network, Inc. (MHN), was the successful bidder of a total of four respondents. MHN exceeded all bid criteria and has provided excellent service to the Sheriff's Office in the past. This contract represents a decrease in contractual costs of more than $12,000 per year and includes enhanced services. For 19 years, the Office of the Sheriff has contracted to provide emergency psychological counseling to all employees. All other major law enforcement agencies have similar contracts. This program has become an essential part of the overall employee assistance package and many employees have received significant help in their personal and professional lives by utilizing the available services.
