Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner,
MD), to execute, on behalf of the County, Interagency Agreement #28–321 with Mt. Diablo
Unified School District, to pay County an amount not to exceed $15,000, for the Family
Literacy/Cares After-School Program, for the period from February 1, 2010 through June
30, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this agreement will result in an amount not to exceed $15,000 of funding for the
Family Literacy/Cares After-School Program. No County match required.
BACKGROUND:
Chronic diseases account for more than ? of the deaths in Contra Costa County. Obesity and
its complications continue to increase in both children and adults. Poor diet and lack of
physical activity are significant risk factors for developing chronic diseases and obesity.
This Family Literacy/Cares After-School Program educates the public, particularly
low-income consumers,
