HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03232010 - C.63RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Patricia Tanquary), to accept, on behalf of the County, Grant Agreement #29-788 (#20072103) from the Regents of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), to pay the County an amount not to exceed $35,439 for the Contra Costa Health Plan Pediatric Obesity Prevention Program, for the period from February 1, 2010 through January 31, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: Acceptance of this Grant Agreement will result in an amount not to exceed $35,439 from Regents of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) for the Contra Costa Health Plan Pediatric Obesity Prevention Program. No County funds are required. BACKGROUND: Contra Costa County is working in collaboration with USCF to address pediatric obesity among low-income Hispanic children. This program aims to reduce pediatric obesity in the Hispanic population by improving provider’s ability to identify and track overweight and obese children; and by enhancing provider counseling skills in addressing nutrition, physical activity, and sedentary lifestyle issues with Hispanic families. Approval of this Grant Award Agreement #29-788 will allow USCF to pay the County to fund the Pediatric Obesity Prevention Program and support training workshops, services, and equipment through January 31, 2011, including mutual indemnification to hold harmless both parties for any claims arising out of the performance of this Agreement.
