HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03232010 - C.61RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.), to execute, on behalf of the County, Grant Agreement #28-318-1 with San Diego State University Research Foundation, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $1,116 for the California’s Kids’ Plate Smart Growth Professional Development Project, for the period from January 15, 2010 through April 30, 2010. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this grant will result in $1,116 from San Diego State University Research Foundation to fund the California’s Kids’ Plate Smart Growth Professional Development Project for the Public Health, Community Wellness and Prevention Programs (CW&PP). No County match required. BACKGROUND: In recent years, Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) has become a leader among Bay Area Health Departments in researching and applying “built environment” approaches to injury prevention. The goal of this Smart Growth Professional Development Project is to further the professional development of County staff working to prevent unintentional childhood injuries. Approval of this Grant Agreement #28-318-1 will support conference attendance for a Senior Health Education Specialist to learn about built environment focused strategies to promote health and safety through April 30, 2010, including agreeing to hold the grantor harmless for any claims arising out of the County’s performance under the Agreement.
