APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the District Attorney, or designee, to submit an application
and execute a grant award agreement, including any extensions or amendments thereof,
pursuant to State guidelines, with the California Emergency Management Agency
(CalEMA) for funding in the amount of $470,238 to provide the Regional Anti-Drug Abuse
Enforcement Team Recovery Act Program for the period March 1, 2010 through February
28, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$470,238; $230,416 for the District Attorney's Office and $239,822 for the Sheriff's Office.
100% Federal Recovery Act Funding. (CFDA No. 16.803)
BACKGROUND:
The Anti-Drug Abuse Enforcement Team Recovery Act Program has two components
operated by the District Attorney and the Sheriff. The State is requiring that a single
application be submitted under the authority of one department. Therefore, the District
Attorney is submitting a unified grant application for both.

Recovery Act monies are to fund personnel to support the activities of multi-jurisdictional

drug task forces focused on combating drug trafficking and identifying and protecting drug
endangered children who may be victims of the illegal activities. The District Attorney's
office will be the implementing agency for the grant, which is designed to assist the
enhancement of inter-agency coordination and cooperation, and to facilitate the
development of multi-jurisdictional investigation and prosecutions.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve the recommendation will result in the loss of $470,238 in federal funds
available to combat drug abuse in Contra Costa County.
