HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03232010 - C.12RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Director of Airports, or designee, to execute a four (4) month extension to the long form standard contract for consulting services with Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc., effective March 18, 2010, through July 18, 2010 and increase the original contract amount by $10,000.00 to $66,300.00 for the Buchanan Field Airport Airfield Electrical and Taxiway Lighting Upgrade Design, Airport Improvement Program (AIP) Project No. 3-06-0050-16. Pacheco Area. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no impact on the General Fund. The total contract cost for the Airfield Electrical and Taxiway Lighting Upgrade Design was $56,300 and will increase by $10,000.00, to $66,300.00, of which $62,985.00 is from FAA, $1,740.00 from the Airport Enterprise Fund, and $1,575.00 from CALTRANS. The contract was a result of a FAA grant for the proposed upgrades. The Public Works Department has been working with Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc. to complete the design of the airfield electrical and taxiway lighting upgrades for Buchanan Field Airport. Due to recent changes requested by the FAA, the completion of the construction bid package will require approximately 4 additional months, incurring additional expense, to complete. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the consultant contract is not extended with Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc., then the Buchanan Field airfield electrical and taxiway lighting upgrade design will not be completed as required by the FAA grant funding.
