Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner,
M.D.), to execute, on behalf of the County, Amendment Agreement #29-208-76
(#09-11269, A01), with the California Department of Public Health, Immunization Branch,
effective July 1, 2009, to amend Agreement #29-208-75, to make technical adjustments to
the Agreement, with no change in the original amount payable to the County of $527,578
and no change in the original term of July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this agreement by the California Department of Public Health will reflect a
change in the Immunization Branch State local assistance general funds to include terms
and conditions for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds, with no
change in the original payment to County in the amount of $527,578 during fiscal year
2009-10, for the Immunization Assistance Program. No County funds required.

The County's Immunization Program makes immunizations available to all

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
persons in need of such service in order to prevent the occurrence and transmission of
childhood diseases; and under the terms of this Contract, the State provides free vaccine to
the County. The Program monitors the compliance of preschools, elementary schools, and
secondary schools in meeting State-mandated immunization requirements through
in-service programs and limited technical assistance. An adverse reaction monitoring
system and outbreak control team are also included in the Program.
On October 6, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved standard agreement #29-208-75
with the California Department of Public Health, Immunization Assistance Program, for the
period from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010 for continuation of the Immunization
Assistance Program.
Approvals of this Amendment Agreement #29-208-76 make allow technical adjustments to
be made to the Agreement to incorporate new supplemental terms and conditions regarding
the American Recovery and Reimbursement Act (ARRA) Funds, thereby allowing the
County to continue providing services for the through June 30, 2010.
