Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brenner,
M.D.), to execute, on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #22–033–52 with Meals on
Wheels\Family and Community Services of Contra Costa, (dba Senior Outreach Services) a
non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $190,778, to provide congregate meals
for the Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.
This Contract includes a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2010, in
an amount not to exceed $47,695.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is 100% federally funded under Title III C (2) of the Older Americans Act of
1965 through an interdepartmental agreement with the Contra Costa Employment and
Human Services Department. No County funding is required.
BACKGROUND:
This Contract meets the social needs of County’s population in providing congregate meals
on 250 serving days, to an average of 250 senior citizens, to ensure they

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

On June 3, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #22-033-50 (as
amended by Contract Amendment Agreement 22-033-51) with Meals on Wheels\Family
and Community Services of Contra Costa, Inc. for the period from July 1, 2008 through
June 30, 2009, (which included a three-month automatic extension through September 30,
2009) for the provision of congregate meal services for the Senior Nutrition Program.
Approval of Novation Contract #22-033-52 replaces the automatic extension under the prior
Contract and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2010.
