Subject:H1N1 Vaccination Progress in Contra Costa County
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
3. Contra Costa Health Services’ Public Health Division administered approximately 40,000
doses of flu vaccine, in fifty-seven school-based flu vaccination clinics, four large
community flu clinics, and forty-four “storefront” flu vaccination clinics. The Contra Costa
Medical Center and Health Centers administered approximately 29,000 doses of flu vaccine,
both seasonal and H1N1.
4. In addition, antiviral medications were distributed by our community partners Rite Aid
and Walgreens pharmacies, through a contract agreement with Contra Costa Health
Services. These medications were for persons with high risk of complications who were
exposed to H1N1 and those with severe flu illness. These antiviral medications were from a
State stockpile for uninsured Contra Costa residents.
5. A total of 644 individual volunteers, most of whom are affiliated with the following
businesses, cities, agencies, and County departments, participated in the conduct of these flu
vaccination clinics We thank them for their time and resources, without which this
widespread effort would not have been possible.
