The cost for this action is unbudgeted. The expenditures are 100% Enterprise I costs and will be absorbed within the Health Services Department at no increase to the County General Fund. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department is requesting to add permanent positions and increase hours in the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and its Health Centers, in order to continue the level of patient care services and to provide needed patient care access to the growing population. This personnel action will allow Health Services Department to appoint temporary employees, who have reached and/or exceeded the maximum 1,600 work hours as of December 31, 2009 into permanent positions from active and future established eligible lists, as recommended by the Blue Ribbon Committee. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and its Health Centers will not have the necessary personnel to continue provide accessible patient care services and will result in the decline of patient care services.
