Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #76-507-9 with Lee Shratter, M.D., a
professional corporation, effective October 1, 2009, to amend Contract #76-507-6 (as
amended by Amendment Agreement #76-507-8), to increase the total Contract Payment
Limit by $46,900 from $477,100 to a new total payment limit of $524,000, with no change
in the original term of January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise I Funds. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate,
patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services.
BACKGROUND:
For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical and Dental Specialists to
provide specialized professional services which are not otherwise available in its hospital
and clinics.
On January 8, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #76-507-6 (as amended

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
with Lee Shratter, M.D., to provide radiology services including, but not limited to,
consultation, on-call coverage, supervision and interpretation of CT Scans, MRI,
Ultrasounds, invasive procedures and plain films at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center
and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the period from January 1, 2008 through December
31, 2010.
Due to an increase in utilization in the Radiology Department, Dr. Shratter has agreed to
provide additional service. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #76-507-8 will
allow Contractor to provide additional hours of radiology services to cover an increase in
volume and case load created by the departure of one (1) radiologist, through December 31,
2010.
