Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Randall Sawyer), to
execute, on behalf of the County, Interagency Agreement #22–351–14 with City of
Richmond, on behalf of its Fire Department, a government agency, in an amount not to
exceed $312,775, to provide hazardous materials training for the period from July 1, 2009
through June 30, 2011.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by AB 2185 fees the County charges to businesses for the
handling of hazardous materials, and is included in the Department’s budget.
BACKGROUND:
This Agreement provides Hazardous Materials Training for the Richmond Fire Department.
The training includes special Hazardous Materials training classes through the University of
California Extension, the California Fire Academy, and the California Specialized Training
Institute; Hazardous Materials First Responder classes through the community college; and

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

On October 2, 2007, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement #22–351–13 with the
City of Richmond, for the period from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2009, for the provision
of hazardous materials training.
Approval of Agreement #22–351–14 will allow the Contractor to continue providing
services through June 30, 2011, including mutual indemnification to hold harmless both
parties for any claims arising out of performance of this agreement.
