BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
of Education of one-time funding available to the County for Child Development program
facility renovations and repairs. The State has awarded $250,000 to be used during the
budget period of July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2012 for facility renovations. The award
included the approval of proposed renovations to fourteen child care centers throughout the
County.
Approval of this agreement will allow the Department to complete facility renovations at
various County operated facilities.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and
Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and,
Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved
by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
