HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12012009 - C.35RECOMMENDATION(S): Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20746 to ADD one (1) permanent full-time Office Manager (JJHC) position at salary level ZAX 1369 ($4,133 - $5,278), and CANCEL one (1) permanent full-time Account Clerk Supervisor (JDHD) position #12232 and one (1) permanent full-time Clerk - Senior Level (JWXC) position #1452 in the Public Works Department. FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact to the County general funds. Costs offset by the cancelation of two vacant, funded positions that nets the department an annual savings of approximately $76,000. BACKGROUND: The Public Works Department is committed to an on-going evaluation of its organizational structure to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Due to the local and state budget challenges, the department is implementing strategies that include reorganizing the department and streamlining its staffing levels. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) departmental areas meets the operational and restructuring needs of the department at this time. A classification audit conducted by the Human Resources Department indicates that the addition of an Office Manager to the Administrative Services Division would be more beneficial and efficient. In exchange for the higher level classification, Public Works will eliminate two vacant, funded positions to offset any additional costs. The result of these actions will net the department an annual savings of approximately $76,000. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the Department of Public Works will be unable to continue reorganizing and streamlining its staffing levels.
