Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Wendel Brunner,
M.D.), to accept, on behalf of the County, Grant Award #28-775-2 from the Genard Aids
Foundation, in an amount not to exceed $25,500, for the County’s Public Health Division
AIDS Program, for the period from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Acceptance of this Grant Award will result in an amount of $25,500 from the Genard Aids
Foundation. No County funds are required.
BACKGROUND:
The County’s Public Health AIDS Program currently maintains a centralized Emergency
Assistance Program for people with HIV and AIDS in Contra Costa County. It provides
limited amounts of support for housing and utility assistance, food and transportation
vouchers, and other small needs that meet allowable service definitions. Access to the
services is provided on referral from contracted case managers throughout the County,
using well-developed processes, protocols and reporting requirements. The goal of the

not in the current AIDS Program Budget.
Approval of Grant Award #28-775-2 will provide continuous emergency assistance funds to
address the needs of HIV infected residents in Contra Costa, through June 30, 2010.
