APPROVE and AUTHORIZE Appropriation and Revenue Adjustment No. 5015 to increase
revenue in the Hazardous Materials Program of the Health Services Department in the
amount of $81,604 from the State Homeland Security Grant, and appropriating it for
purchase of equipment for the Incident Response Unit.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Appropriation Adjustment will increase authorized expenditures by $81,604 and Grant
revenues by a like amount. Approval will result in zero additional net county cost.
BACKGROUND:
Hazardous Materials Division is to purchase a Rapid Development Kit, (Rae Systems) for
the total price of $81,604.36. This wireless chemical detection system will allow first
responding Hazardous Materials personnel to safely monitor uncontrolled chemical releases
in our county. This equipment will be available to all hazardous material teams and
jurisdictions in our county. The purchase of this equipment will be through Health Services-
Hazardous Materials, org # 5875, and will be reimbursed from State Homeland Security
Grant # 2008-15, AEL/SEL # 07CD-04DCSO.
