APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a
Consulting Services Agreement with Quincy Engineering, Inc., in an amount not to exceed
$150,000 for on-call structural engineering services for the period October 13, 2009 through
October 12, 2011. Project No.: Various
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the General Fund. Work performed under this on-call agreement is
funded by developer fees; road, flood control and airport project funds.
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department is involved in various projects in the County which require
structural engineering services for road, flood control, and airport projects. After a
solicitation process, this firm was selected, as one of three firms, to provide structural
engineering services on an “on-call” basis. The consultant will augment Public Works
design staff on an as-needed basis. They will be used as an extension of County Public
Works design staff during busy times when extra help is needed or when in-house expertise
is not available. This on-call agreement will be in effect for two years.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without approval from the Board of Supervisors there will be possible delay in
completing projects requiring structural engineering services. Executing this contract will
facilitate the process of design and construction for various Public Works projects
requiring a structural engineering expertise.
