Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Wendel Brunner,
M.D.), to accept, on behalf of the County, Grant Award #28-779-2 from New Connections,
to pay the County an amount not to exceed $12,000, for the County’s Public Health
Division AIDS Counseling and Testing Program- Growing Great Families Project, for the
period from October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Acceptance of this Grant Award will result in an amount of $12,000 from New Connections
Substance Abuse Mental Health Service Act funds. No County funds are required.
BACKGROUND:
The County’s Public Health AIDS Program currently provides HIV testing and counseling
by State Certified staff in a number of locations throughout the County. The Growing Great
Families Project will add funding to the existing HIV counseling and testing program allow
the County to test up to two (2) participants per session, serving those at great risk for HIV
