HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10132009 - C.10RECOMMENDATION(S): INTRODUCE Ordinance 2009-22 amending Section 33-5.375 of the County Ordinance Code to exempt the classification of Fleet Manager and retitle the classification to Fleet Manager-Exempt and exempt the classification from the Merit System as recommended by the Assistant County Administrator-Director of Human Resources. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no cost associated with this action. BACKGROUND: The General Services Department's request to exempt the Fleet Manager classification from the Merit System has been reviewed and considered by the Human Resources Department and County Counsel. Due to the nature of the work and the scope and level of responsibility the classification has for determining and publicly advocating substantive program policy, the Assistant County Administrator-Director of Human Resources is recommending that the classification be exempt. The Fleet Manager classification is a single level managerial position in the Fleet Services Division and reports to the General Services Director. The Fleet Manager position is currently vacant. ATTACHMENTS Exemption Ordinance Introduce Fleet Manager Exempt ORDINANCE NO. 2009-22 ORDINANCE NO. 2009-22 (Excluding Fleet Manager-Exempt from the merit system) The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ordains as follows (omitting the parenthetical footnotes from the official text of the enacted or amended provisions of the County Ordinance Code): SECTION I: Section 33-5.375 of the County Ordinance Code is amended to exclude the classification of fleet manager-exempt from the merit system, to read: 33-5.375 General Services. (a) The director of general services-exempt is excluded and is appointed by the county administrator. (b) The class and positions of deputy general services director are excluded and are appointed by the director of general services-exempt. (c) The real estate manager-exempt is excluded and is appointed by the director of general services-exempt. (d) The capital projects division manager-exempt is excluded and is appointed by the director of general services-exempt.
