FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Federal funding Administration for Children and Families CFDA # 93.708 No county match BACKGROUND: The County received funds from Administration for Children and Families (ACF) as part of the 2009 American Recovery and Restoration Act (ARRA) signed into law on February 17, 2009. The Department is passing through a portion of the funds to its childcare partners with facility improvement needs. On June 23, 2009 the Board approved a contract with Cambridge Community Center for the Center to provide Head Start program enhancement services. This board order seeks to amend the contract to include program quality improvement through sandbox cover / sunshade and drinking fountain repair/replacement. 39-458-5 CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department’s Head Start program supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
