ADOPT Resolution No. 2009/437 allowing the Emergency Medical Services Agency to
receive state and federal level summary criminal history information for certification of
Emergency Medical Technician-I’s.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
The Emergency Medical Services Agency has been participating in a State level Department
of Justice background check program since 2001. On July 1, 2010, State regulations will
require background checks at the state and federal level for all Emergency Medical
Technician-I’s certified in California. This resolution will allow Contra Costa County EMS
to receive federal level summary criminal history information, as well as continuing to
receive state level information.
