ADOPT Resolution No. 2009/422 establishing compensation criteria for the County Parole
Board public member pursuant to Penal Code Section 3075(b).
FISCAL IMPACT:
$1,500.00, 100% General Fund; Budgeted.
BACKGROUND:
Penal Code Section 3075(b) specifies that the Board of Supervisors may authorize a per
diem rate for the County Parole Board public member in order to compensate him or her for
participation at meetings. Additionally, this same Penal Code section authorizes the public
member of the County Parole Board to be compensated for actual traveling and other
necessary expenses incurred in the discharge of his or her duties.
Under the California Penal Code, the County established a County Board of Parole
Commissioners (County Parole Board) consisting of the Sheriff, or designee; the probation
officer, or designee; and a member selected from the public by the presiding judge of the
superior court. This public member is entitled to compensation for certain expenses and is

The County Parole Board meets one or two times per month, depending upon the number
of inmates eligible for review. The Office of the Sheriff requests the compensation
criteria for the public member of the County Parole Board be established as follows:
1. Per diem rate of $55 per meeting.
2. Reimbursement for actual travel expenses.
3. Reimbursement for other necessary expenses incurred in the discharge of his or her
duties, as approved by the Sheriff.
