APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee,
on behalf of the Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa, to accept Summer Youth
Program funding in the amount of $3,500 from the Clorox Company Foundation for
occupational education and work experience for youth ages 14-24 for the period May 1,
2009 through October 31, 2009.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$3,500: County to receive $3,500 from the Clorox Company Foundation - No County
Match.
BACKGROUND:
The funding from the Clorox Company Foundation will support and pay the wages of youth
14-24 who are enrolled in the Workforce Development Board Summer Youth Program who
do not qualify under the income guidelines of the Workforce Investment Act. The funding
will allow these youths employed by the Clorox Company to acquire new skills and
upgrade current skills as they move toward self-sufficiency. (#29-291-0)

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The funding will support two of the five community outcomes established in the Children’s
Report Card, 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient” and 4) “Families that are
Safe, Stable and Nurturing” by providing opportunity for employment and job skills to
move toward self sufficiency and/or obtain and maintain employment.
