HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08252009 - C.17RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution to recognize Gwendolyn Hamilton, MD, Contra Costa California Children Services Medical Director and Contra Costa Regional Medical Center Pediatrician, on the occasion of her 20th year of service to the County. FISCAL IMPACT: None. BACKGROUND: Gwendolyn Hamilton began her work with Contra Costa County in April 1989 as a pediatrician at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers. Since that time, Dr. Hamilton has served as Clinic Pediatrician, Pediatric Hospitalist, Director of the Newborn Nursery, Chair or the Pediatric Department, and Director of the Child Development Clinic. In January 2005, Dr. Hamilton began her role as Medical Director of Contra Costa California Children Services (CCS). The program arranges and pays for specialty care for conditions such as cerebral palsy, cancer, sickle cell anemia and trauma. CCS assures children from low-income families receive appropriate specialty BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) care and rehabilitation services to reach their potential. Dr. Hamilton reviews each referral received in the CCS office to determine the child’s medical eligibility for treatment and rehabilitation services. She provides medical consultation to the CCS nurse case management staff and rehabilitation staff, as well as referring physicians. In addition to her work with CCS, Dr. Hamilton teaches classes on various topics for Contra Costa foster care families. She continues to work part-time at CCRMC. Dr. Hamilton is known for her extraordinary professionalism, her compassion, and for her dedication to her patients. ATTACHMENTS Resolution No. 2009/347
