Approve and Authorize the Public Works Director, or designee, to award a $5,000 matching grant from the Iron
Horse Corridor Trust Fund to LifeGarden, a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Educational Organization, for the installation of
three interpretive panels within the Iron Horse Corridor near the Walnut Creek Intermediate School, Walnut Creek
area. (District IV)
FISCAL IMPACT:
None. All funds will be from the Iron Horse Corridor Trust Fund.
BACKGROUND:
LifeGarden received a grant of $5,000 from the City of Walnut Creek for the interpretive panels project and was
advised by the Iron Horse Corridor (IHC) Advisory Committee to request grant matching funds from the IHC Trust
Fund managed by the Public Works Department. The funds will be used toward the design and installation of three
interpretive panels to be located within the Iron Horse Corridor near the Walnut Creek Intermediate School. The
LifeGarden Interpretive Panels Project includes a history panel, a watershed map panel, and ecology panel. The
project was reviewed by the IHC Advisory Committee and approved by the Public Works Department.
