HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04072009 - C.5 (2)RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE the 2008 Tara Hills Drive Curb Ramp project contingency fund increase of $6,000.00 for a new contingency fund amount of $65,580.65 effective April 7, 2009, and APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute Contract Change Orders No. 4 and No. 5 with Malachi Construction, effective April 7, 2009, in an amount not to exceed $2,256.60 for Change Order No. 4 and $26,109.20 for Change Order No. 5, to a new payment limit of $181,390.00 for extra work directly related to drainage inlet relocation and additional Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), sidewalk, curb, valley gutter, driveway ramp, pavement striping, and pavement marking, Project Number 0662-6R4211-08, Pinole area. (100% Measure C funds) Distrcit II FISCAL IMPACT: The project contingency funds are currently insufficient to cover the increased costs. The increase in contingency funds will be funded by 100% Measure C funds. Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:April 7, 2009 Contra Costa County Subject:APPROVE Project Contingency Fund Increase and Execute Contract Change Order No.s 4 &5 BACKGROUND: Additional funding is required to increase the contract contingency amount to pay the contractor for additional costs incurred for extra work directly related to drainage inlet relocation and additional HMA, sidewalk, curb, valley gutter, driveway ramp, pavement striping, and pavement marking. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would prevent successful completion of this contract and preclude payment to the contractor for the required work.
