HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12031985 - T.14 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on December 3, 1985 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Fanden ABSTAIN: None -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBJECT: Composition of Planning Commissions The Board on October 29 , 1985 continued to this date consideration of reports of the Internal Operations Committee and the Director of Community Development relating to area planning commissions. Supervisor Tom Powers noted that there had been discussion of several proposals relating to planning issues , but that a General Plan update program had not yet been presented to the Board. He suggested that the matter be continued to allow the Board an oppor- tunity to review all the issues together. Supervisor Robert Schroder noted that a determination on retention or elimination of the area planning commissions might be premature at this time and that all the issues and proposals that have been presented should be reviewed before a decision is made by the Board. Supervisor Sunne McPeak noted the Board' s commitment to an aggressive growth management plan. She commented on the separate but related issues before the Board, and agreed that a decision on the area planning commissions should be deferred until all the issues have been reviewed. Supervisor Tom Torlakson noted the development activity and growth potential in East County and urged conceptual approval of an area planning commission for East County. Kim Vogley, Rt. 2, Box 143J, Brentwood, appeared and urged the Board to make a decision on an East County area planning com- mission in the near future. Constance Brady, 2690 Taylor Road, Bethel Island, repre- senting the East Diablo Planning Advisory Committee, also urged the Board to make a decision on an East County area planning commission as soon as possible. Mary Lou Oliver, Mayor, City of San Ramon, advised that the City was transmitting a letter to the Board outlining some addi- tional alternatives that had not been brought forth by the Internal Operations Committee. There being no further discussion, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that consideration of reports relating to area planning com- missions is CONTINUED to December 10, 1985. ►`hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown.
