HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08042009 - C.42RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.), to execute, on behalf of the County, Grant Award Amendment #28-787-2 from Center for Human Development, to increase the amount payable to the County by $3,000, to a new total not to exceed $45,000, for the continuation of the Public Health East County Environmental Justice Action Collaborative Project, and to extend the term from June 30, 2009 through August 31, 2009. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this amendment will increase payment to the County by $3,000 for a total not to exceed $45,000 from Center for Human Development through the San Francisco Foundation, for the East County Environmental Justice Action Collaborative Project. No County funds required. The East County Environmental Justice Action Collaborative Project builds on current efforts to establish an Environmental Justice Collaborative that will work to increase the ability of residents, Community Based Organizations and businesses to identify local environmental hazards and develop solutions to protect the community’s health. The goal of the project is to continue establishing an effective collaborative, including resident leaders, that will educate the broader community about local environmental hazards and develop and implement action plans to address community-identified toxic hazards. On September 23, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Grant Award #28-787-1 with Center for Human Development for the period from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. Approval of Grant Award Amendment #28-787-2 will provide additional funding for the continuation of the East County Environmental Justice Action Collaborative Project, through August 31, 2009. Three sealed/certified copies of this Board Order should be returned to the Contracts and Grants Unit.
