HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07212009 - D.18RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2009/345 ending the Tier II time County subsidized Buyback Program. FISCAL IMPACT: This action eliminates the County cost associated with subsidizing the cost of employees converting Tier II time to Tier III time. BACKGROUND: On October 1, 2002, as part of a union negotiation, the Board of Supervisors adopted a Tier II to Tier III buyback program. The buyback program allowed employees with 10 or more years of County/District service to buy back Tier II time. For each two years of service purchased by the employee, the County bought one year up to a maximum of three years. Due to fiscal constraints, this program can no longer be supported.
