HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07212009 - D.8RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2009/365 approving the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) (copy and summary of amended provisions attached including Attachment E (copy attached) pertaining to the Agreed-Upon Temporary Absences (ATA) Implementation, between Contra Costa County and Public Employees Union, Local One (CBS-Site Supervisors), providing for wages, benefits and other terms and conditions of employment for the period beginning October 1, 2008 through June 30, 2011, for those classifications represented by that employee organization. FISCAL IMPACT: These changes to the health insurance plans will result in significant reductions in the County's long-term liabilities and will significantly add to the County's overall fiscal stability and ability to deliver services. Moreover, the anticipated savings from the agreed-upon temporary absences will help to alleviate the fiscal impact caused by reductions in assessed valuation and related decline in property taxes revenues. In response to difficult economic circumstances, the parties were able to negotiate new MOUs that provide for six unpaid furlough days per year, revised cost sharing of health insurance premiums, and new protections for employees in the event of layoff.
