HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07212009 - C.83RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order with Good Source in an amount not to exceed $250,000 to provide food products for the preparation of inmate meals in County adult detention facilities for the period July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: $250,000 maximum. 100% County General Fund; Budgeted in fiscal year 2009/10. BACKGROUND: Good Source specializes in purchasing food product end runs and "seconds" on the market for distribution to schools and correctional facilities, which in turn provides increased purchasing power to client agencies. Good Source is the distributor for Sysco Food Services. At times, the County is able to purchase food products from Good Source directly at a better rate than Sysco Food Services. To take advantage of this potential savings, a purchase order with Good Source is being requested in conjunction with two other purchase orders with Sysco Food Services listed for consideration on today's agenda.
