HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07212009 - C.81RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order with Sysco Food Services - Sacramento in an amount not to exceed $300,000 to provide poultry products for use in the preparation of inmate meals at County adult detention facilities for the period July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: $300,000 maximum. 100% County General Fund; Budgeted in fiscal year 2009/10. BACKGROUND: Sysco is the only Northern California food services provider specializing in providing food products to detention facilities in bulk quantities. The County benefits significantly by using Sysco in the form of financial incentives on both bulk purchases and manufacturer's rebates resulting in increased purchasing power to the department. This purchase order allows the Sheriff's Custody Services Bureau to purchase poultry for use in preparing inmate meals.
