HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07212009 - C.68RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Oakland Private Industry Council (OPIC) to increase the contract payment limit by $16,014 for a total contract payment limit not to exceed $136,134 for increased program and WIA Youth Services with no change to the contract term of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. FISCAL IMPACT: $136,134: 100% Federal Workforce Investment Act Funds. BACKGROUND: The WDB approved the selection of OPIC to serve as fiscal agent and administrator for the County's portion of the East Bay Works. OPIC is responsible for processing payments and ensuring that Contra Costa County’s share of regional grants are managed and implemented appropriately. OPIC also provides support to the operations of the WDB’s One-Stop Career Centers. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) an increase to the contract payment limit to OPIC by $16,014 from $120,120 to a new payment limit of $136,034. The Workforce Development Board budget modifications breakdown as follows: decrease WIA Adult services by $7,000, decrease WIA Dislocated Worker by $7,000, resulting in line item adjustments of $14,000; plus $16,014 increase from WIA Youth Services. (18-062-9) CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient”; 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,” by assisting with training and employment services.
