Subject:APPROVE the conveyance of real property at California Avenue and State Route 4 to the City of Pittsburg,
Pittsburg area. Project No. 4660 6X4184
BACKGROUND:
When Caltrans was acquiring the right of way needed for the widening of SR4 from
Railroad Avenue to Loveridge Road in the City, they found that the County owned a
portion of the public right of way near California Avenue and Loveridge Road. The
County, Caltrans and the City agreed that it was in the best interest of all parties that the
County Quitclaim any interest in the public right of way directly to the City. After
Caltrans completes the widening of SR4, the City will be responsible for the care and
maintenance of the public right of way.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The County may have some liability and be responsible for a portion of the care and
maintenance of a portion of the public right of way within the City limits.
