HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07072009 - C.46RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to purchase one additional transport trailer for the Office of the Sheriff-Coroner. FISCAL IMPACT: The Office of the Sheriff-Coroner is purchasing one additional transport trailer for an estimated cost of $24,240. The purchase will be funded from the the Community Warning System operational budget, which is 100% funded by Health Inspection fee revenue. BACKGROUND: The Office of the Sheriff-Coroner is purchasing one additional transport trailer. The Community Warning System has a spare siren unit purchased under a grant from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. The siren is fitted with a control system that allows it to be activated in either siren or voice modes, both locally and remotely. The transport trailer is a two wheel unit with an extendible 20 foot mast, solar batteries and a wireless siren system. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The mobile siren unit will either remain in storage or installed at a fixed location where its value will be limited if the purchase of this transport trailer is not approved.
