HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07072009 - C.46RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to purchase one
additional transport trailer for the Office of the Sheriff-Coroner.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Office of the Sheriff-Coroner is purchasing one additional transport trailer for an
estimated cost of $24,240. The purchase will be funded from the the Community Warning
System operational budget, which is 100% funded by Health Inspection fee revenue.
BACKGROUND:
The Office of the Sheriff-Coroner is purchasing one additional transport trailer. The
Community Warning System has a spare siren unit purchased under a grant from the Bay
Area Air Quality Management District. The siren is fitted with a control system that allows
it to be activated in either siren or voice modes, both locally and remotely. Mounting the
siren on a transport trailer would allow for the unit to be deployed on short notice for use
near temporary hazards, as a temporary replacement when fixed sirens are undergoing
extended maintenance, as a public address
