APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Department Director, or
designee, to submit the 2009-10 Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Day Center
Sponsorship renewal application and funding plan to the California Department of
Education for the period July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No County match.
This order is to submit a renewal application with the State that will allow continued
reimbursement of food costs associated with the daily operations of the early care and
education children’s center for the 2009-10 year. Expected receipts of funds are included in
the department’s FY 2009-10 budget.
BACKGROUND:
The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department
participates in the State of California’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to
provide daily nutritious meals and snacks for the

receive reimbursement for food costs in the preparation of meals and snacks
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department’s
Head Start program supports two of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes:
“Children Ready for and Succeeding in School” and “Families that are Safe, Stable, and
Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including
high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children
throughout Contra Costa County.
