"Bud" Stewart ) RESOLUTION NO. 85/717 Today we commend F.A. "Bud" Stewart for his many years of service to the citizens of Concord as well as Contra Costa County. A civil engineering graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, whose career was interrupted by his service in World War II, Bud came to Concord as City Engineer and Public Works Director in 1953 and at that time he designed Concord' s first City Hall building. Becoming Concord' s second City Manager in 1960, Bud launched the many projects needed by the growing city. With ability and enthusiasm he charted a course for the projects: new streets, street maintenance, storm drains and additional facilities, development of new as well as older sections of the City, revamping of the financial machinery of the City, and organization of the City personnel staff. He was one of the original group of civic and business leaders in Contra Costa County who envisioned the immense contribution to the Bay Area to be made by a cultural center and he worked with his characteristic energy to bring the Concord Pavilion into being. We, the members of the Board of Supervisors, commend F.A. "Bud" Stewart for his years of dedication to the quality of life of the citizens of' Concord. His integrity and compassion are examples of the best in public service. Nancy Fanden, Chair T rs Sunne Wright McPeak bv t2 r obert I .
