HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06232009 - C.115RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to destroy California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), Food Stamps, Medi-Cal and General Assistance (GA) case records from the years 1992 through 2000 pursuant to Government Code section 26202. FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact from this action. Cost of destruction is offset by savings from cost of storage. BACKGROUND: In order to efficiently manage the volume of records continuously generated and received, the Employment and Human Services Department must, on a continuing basis, destroy old records and documents that are prepared or received other than pursuant to state statute, or records that are not expressly required by law to be filed or preserved. The document was prepared or received in any manner other then pursuant to state statute, or; 2. The document was prepared or received pursuant to state statute, and which is not expressly required by law to be filed and preserved if the board determines by a four-fifths vote that the retention of these documents are no longer required for county purposes. Government Code section 26202 allows the Employment and Human Services Department to destroy documents on a continuing basis with maintaining an electronic version or a copy.
