Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Jeff Smith, MD), to
execute on behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-653 with Iowa
State Nationwide for its Option Dietetic Internship Program, an educational institution, to
provide field instruction in the Health Services Department for Contractor’s students, for the
period from June 1, 2009 through May 31, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor’s students with the opportunity to
integrate academic knowledge with application skills and attitudes at progressively higher
levels of performance requirements and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork experience for
students is considered to be an integral part of both the educational and professional
preparation. The Health Services Department can provide the requisite field education,
while at the same time, taking advantage of the students’ services to patients.
